What role you will play?

Reporting to the Solution Integration Architect (“SIA”) within the Data Analytics team, the Solution Architect (“SA”) translates business requirements into solution architecture that complies with enterprise architectural standards and roadmaps.  This role is pivotal in delivering and maintaining a solution that best suits business requirements.  The SA has a wide breadth of knowledge on how various technological components work together to deliver desired functionality.  The Solution Architect analyzes current application and infrastructure technology to determine its ability to support the solution and creates relevant conceptual solution and solution map to be referenced by Business Analysts, Data Architects, developers and configuration specialists during the functional design and build process. The Solution Architect is a senior role in the architecture family. The solution architect is expected to be an expert in one or more architecture areas (cloud technology, enterprise data warehouse application, infrastructure, data, security, etc.). The SA works with the Business Solution Delivery teams and the business partners to define solution roadmaps for a specific technology within a specific domain. This individual collaborates with the Solution Integration Architect, the Project Manager/Delivery team and the Architecture COE to facilitate integration across solutions and technologies within a specific domain.

What will you be responsible for? (apart from innovating)

• Collaborate with Architecture COE on the solution design to ensure it complies with enterprise architectural standards and future roadmaps
• Develop a solution architecture with primary focus on data analytics and reporting that accurately translates business requirements to technology and ensures the design will meet business requirements throughout the lifecycle of a change
• Create, evaluate and recommend solutions that incorporate business, technology, roadmap, cost, scalability and performance requirements
• Liaise with Project Managers and Delivery teams to implement a solution that will meet business requirements within time and cost constraints and help program and project managers in the implementation of design, planning and governance of project/initiative
• Lead and delegate development responsibilities to developers and specialists to ensure the project is completed within the required time frame
• Provide guidance and coaching to other architects, developers and specialists on changes throughout the design process
• Develop architectural blueprints and practices that can be referenced and adhered to by the Data Analytics SIA, BSD SIA and the BSD architects
• For the Solution Architect in the Architecture CoE, participate in SWAT teams and issue resolution as required
• Work in partnership with Enterprise Architecture,  Strategy, COE’s and the business so as to help in defining future services, enhancement and direction.
• Create proof of concepts to prove technologies and patterns that can be used to make decision on strategy
• Proactively anticipate technical risks and design/implement error handling and other mitigation techniques to ensure system stability and security
• Recognize opportunities for reuse, componentization, dependencies and interactions between components and projects and take ownership of resolving issues/conflicts
• Author architectural solution documents
• Support the determination of estimates- level of effort and cost, staffing, deployment strategy and work breakdown structure.
• Provides subject matter expertise in at least one of the following architecture disciplines, as: Cloud technology(Azure, AWS…), Enterprise Data Warehouse, Data Integration, and Business Intelligence
• Producing information models that represent the business problem to be solved regarding data content, data relationships and structure
• Developing data management standards and practices, especially those which ensure data quality and data integrity across the corporation as part of the identification and definition of cross-enterprise data entities

 

What skills you need for this role to be yours?

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Client Management : can consolidate business requirements and translate them into sound solution architecture
  • Solution design: familiar with workflow concepts and how they integrate with application solutions in a cross application context
  • Application development : knowledge of functions, features and facilities of applicable programming languages
  • Application development concepts: is familiar with developing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based services within medium to highly complex application environments
  • Familiarity with both functional and performance aspects of integration
  • Domain knowledge: experience in relevant IT domain

CERTIFICATIONS

  • Academic : undergraduate degree in engineering, computer science, business, or equivalent
  • Certifications / skills : TOGAF (Asset), ITIL foundations (Asset), IT Architecture Certification (Asset), SOA (Asset), Integration technologies (DataStage) (Asset)

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as a Solution Architect with cloud technology expertise, Infrastructure/security knowledge, Data Integration, Business or Data Architect, Business Intelligence.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in progressively advancing roles within IT.
