What role you will play?

Reporting to the Business Architect, the Business Solution Delivery (BSD) Enablers HCM Payroll Business Analyst (“BA”) collaborates with our internal teams, customer stakeholders, and third-party partners to analyze, define, validate, and document business requirements and processes as well as designing, configuring, and maintaining SAP payroll components with a high degree of attention to detail. 
The successful candidate must have extensive experience in the SAP framework Canadian payroll module in standard and custom development with excellent functional and technical skills. 

What will you be responsible for? (apart from Innovating)

  • Translate stakeholder requirements into various documentation deliverables such as functional specifications use cases, workflow/process diagrams.
  • Analyze business processes and systems, identifying inefficiencies and/or required functional enhancements, and documenting business processes and procedures.
  • Perform support activities related to HR Payroll (Canada), including knowledge of tax calculations, Canadian legislation, and year-end related activities.
  • Analyze and modify payroll schemas and rules.
  • Ensure configured systems integrate with existing solutions
  • Provide basic design documents and translate into component-level designs to accelerate development. 
  • Act as liaison between application architects and development teams to ensure that product development and implementation are coordinated
  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and participate in the review of test strategies and scripts for assigned projects to ensure the planned testing is comprehensive and consistent with the business requirements.

What does it take for this role to be yours?

  • 3 years minimum hands-on configuration experience of SAP HCM Payroll.
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian Payroll practices.
  • Experience with year-end reporting and reconciliation (T4).
  • Experience testing annual HR support pack upgrades and related defect corrections.
  • Knowledge of remaining SAP HCM Modules (Time Management, Benefits, etc.)
  • Experience in effectively interacting and communicating with business teams; can consolidate business requirements and translate them into IT deliverables.
  • Good time management skills to work both in a project team and support team role.
  • Ability to react quickly to resolve problems.
  • Availability to work occasional evening and weekend on-call production support shifts.

  • Experience in supporting HR/payroll service outsourcing.
  • Experience in Postings, Month end Accruals.
  • ABAP experience in debugging.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
  • Superior communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Problem solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Taking initiative to continually acquire and enhance your technical knowledge and skills.
  • Understands principles of iterative development, and able to document business requirements as Agile user stories.
  • Experience using Jira for Agile software development is considered an asset. 
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors Human Capital Management Software is also considered an asset.


  • Academic: Post-secondary degree or higher in business or information systems or equivalent experience or combination thereof (required)
  • Certifications: PCP Payroll Compliance Practitioner (asset)
